REDUNDANCY

(Updated 21/07/2023)

Before you’re made redundant, you might be entitled to some help finding a new job, like time off for interviews.

Money might be tight for a while so you should also get advice on managing any debts you have and check if you’re entitled to any benefits.

To get help in finding a new job you can contact your local job centre and ask for their rapid response service.

If you’ve worked for your employer for 2 years at the end of your notice period, you’re entitled to time off to apply for jobs or go on training. For more information on taking time off from work to look for work and how much time you can take please click here for more information.

How do I know if I get the correct redundancy pay?

When you get your final pay, you should check that you have received any redundancy pay you are entitled to or know when you will receive it. This would include your last salary, any pay in lieu if you are not working your full notice, any holiday pay or expenses you are entitled to.

Contact Citizens Advice IW Tax Team if there’s a problem with your final pay - you may have to make a claim to an employment tribunal to get the money you’re owed.
