PROBLEMS AT WORK

(Updated 21/07/2023)

If you have a problem at work, there are ways you can try to solve it. What’s best for your situation will depend on things like what the problem is, how serious it is, how your employer has dealt with similar complaints before, and how successful you think a particular step might be.

You can get free advice from your nearest Citizens Advice. It will help if you have to hand as much information as possible including a note of what happened and what you want, your contract of employment or a copy of your employer’s policy on dealing with problems at work and copies of any emails you’ve had about your complaint or a note of any conversations you’ve had about it.

Visit the national citizens advice website for he various options available to you including talking, writing or in more serious issues raising a grievance or going to a tribunal.

Please note there are different procedures if you’ve been disciplined, dismissed or made redundant.
