HOME SAFETY

(Updated 21/07/2023)

The Blue Lamp Trust – The Bobby Scheme:

The Blue Lamp Trust is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting and enhancing community safety throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. All our profits support the work of the Bobby Scheme, a free service which provides practical home security and safety assistance to the elderly and vulnerable, helping them to feel safe in their homes.

The Bobby Scheme, supported by Hampshire Constabulary and Hampshire Fire and Rescue, is a practical service which aims to bring peace of mind to the vulnerable and elderly, providing reassurance or restoring a sense of security within their own home particularly after a burglary. Improving home security also decreases the risk of future crimes. Proceeds from the Blue Lamp Trust’s training and taxi assessment services go into funding the Bobby Scheme.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A full crime prevention and fire safety survey is carried out by one of our trained, police-vetted fitters. They will provide both general and specific crime and fire prevention advice to improve home safety. When appropriate our fitters will fit such items as locks, spy-holes, door chains and smoke alarms, etc. This service is completely free. The Blue Lamp Trust can supply and fit police approved key safes for a small donation.
