DENTISTS

(Updated 06/04/2023)

Dental Practices:

Most dentists are not NHS staff but are independent contractors providing their own staff and premises. Many dental practices provide services to NHS patients on the Isle of Wight through contracts managed by NHS England. For patients with special needs NHS services are provided by dentists employed by the NHS.

How can I access an NHS dentist in an emergency?

If you have a regular NHS dentist and need urgent treatment, contact your own dentist for advice.

If you do not have a regular NHS dentist, you can contact NHS 111

Emergency dental care/out of hours:

If your problem is more urgent, you can access out-of-hours dental services in your area by calling:

  • your dentist, who should have an answer-phone message with details of how to access treatment out of hours  OR
  • NHS 111
